Our Director
Sam Gronseth teaches vocal, instrumental and classroom music at the
elementary and middle schools on the Ridge as well as the Paradise Youth
Orchestra. Currently in his 31st year of teaching, this is Sam's ninth
year directing the Paradise Community Chorus.
Prior to 1985, Sam directed and performed in 16 countries including
Singapore, Poland, and China. More recently, his instrumental and vocal
performance groups have consistently received superior ratings at region
and section festivals. Sam has been recognized on a statewide basis
with CMEA Outstanding Service awards in 1994 and 1997. Groups under
his direction have performed for schools from the Pacific Northwest
to Southern California in venues such a Disneyland, the San Francisco
Giants, and state and local music education conferences. These groups
have been an outgrowth of a strong music education program in Paradise.
They are consistently invited to perform for schools, community organizations
and other events.
Sam has served as president of CMEA -- California Music Education Association
and is a lifetime member of the American Choral Directors Association.
He is often sought as a guest conductor for churches, schools, and community
groups. Most recently Sam teaches seminars for teachers in music education
throughout the nation.
Sam received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Central Washington
University in Washington State, with graduate work at both CSU Chico
and CSU Fullerton. Sam and his wife Vicki are the parents of three children.
